Jeff Bezos – Amazon Founder

No introduction is needed for Jeff Bezos as he is a household name. He founded Amazon on July 5, 1994 in his garage. What started as a small online bookstore has become the one stop online shop for anything and everything you could need, want and even the things you didn’t know you needed or wanted. Bezos was born on January 12, 1964 at 11:33 am in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has once again made the news as he announced that he would be stepping down as CEO of Amazon to focus on his other passions.

What triggered his massive wealth? What triggered his divorce? Let’s take a look at his chart and see what we can see.

Bezos’ ascendant is in Pisces. He has Jupiter in his first house. He is someone who sees the glass as half full. He wants to have others see it his way and his truths are prone to being the absolute way. He is someone that sets goals and is able to achieve them. He may feel he is “bulletproof” and he will need to be aware of this potential area for growth. This can indicate that he has well-developed finances and comforts. He can have a tendency to be overly idealistic. He could be prone to tumors or liver troubles. Jupiter rules his first house and this can indicate that he will focus on matters in his own environment and may not have the ability to see outside his own world. He is someone who has a strong sense of purpose in life. He is self-sufficient and a leader but is prone to coming across as or being egotistical. Jupiter also rules his tenth house of career and since it is in the house of who he is it shows the strong career focus and drive. This can show him as a trailblazer, entrepreneur and someone who has the ability to lead big projects and undertake challenging tasks. He is persistent when it comes to getting what he wants and he is likely to be persistent in pestering others on this path. He is not someone who would be considered a team player.

In his fourth house, Gemini, is Rahu (one of the nodes of the Moon). Rahu here indicates that his mind is geared toward innovating and that he can be oddly creative with an off-beat sense of humor. He has the ability to think in a way that others do not. However, he could be prone to diseases that are harder to diagnose so he will need to ask questions and get second opinions. He is someone who can come across as arrogant and stubborn. He has an active mind and can get his real sense of accomplishment from overcoming hardships. The ruler of this house, Mercury, goes to his tenth house of career indicating his success as business person.

I will take a quick moment to point out that Bezos has what is called a Kala Sarpa yoga. This can cause extremes in life. His high times will be extremely high but his lows will be low. After he hits a low, he will allows go higher than his last high. It can denote a life that seems fated but events giving him a feeling of fated destiny. This yoga will intensify any other yogas that are present in his chart.

In his tenth house, Sagittarius, are Moon, Mercury, Ketu and the Sun. The Sun does well in the tenth house. It gives a person a sense of power and good career opportunities. He will be the boss, CEO and or own his own business. He is someone who is instrumental in making things happen and has strong self-esteem and confidence. He is someone who will say what comes to mind without fully thinking it through. Moon in the tenth gives him fame and recognition in his career. He has a focus on fulfilling his desires and a love of independence. He can do charitable work. He has a love of learning and may love philosophy. He can be honest without considering the impact on others at times. Mercury in the tenth can indicate that traveling may be a part of his work and that he is someone who desires a mind-oriented career. He can be an original thinker but also may think too much of his own point of view. Ketu in the tenth can indicate that Bezos has the intelligence to be able to adapt to changing circumstances. He is not someone who likely enjoys being confined to an office. He can receive both respect and disrespect from other people. He can have an unusual career or one that is constantly shifting and changing. He is someone who can have positive turns of fortune. He could have legal difficulties and deal with separation from his father.

In continuing to look at his tenth house he is someone who can be sought out as an advisor in his field. He does have the potential for tax problems so should keep this in mind. He likely met his now ex-wife work which they did. As far as partners go, he will be drawn to those who are ambitious and career oriented. He is someone who can be highly intuitive. He is someone who is skilled at persuading people to help with his goals and objectives. He is determined to succeed. He has a passionate nature and wants to get to the bottom of things. He can be controlling towards achieving a better position for himself in life. Success for him could come at an early age, as we know, it did. He can be blind to his own flaws and can be aggressive in his approach. He is someone who has some sort of knowledge that sets him apart. He likely enjoys reading and can have multiple marriages or marriage like relationships throughout his life.

In his eleventh house, Capricorn, are Mars and Saturn. Mars makes Bezos quick acting, generous and gives him the ability to take calculated risk. He may think it is ok to take things from others. He gets great wealth from his career that comes from his ambition and drive. He can have times when he is impatient. Saturn here makes him a hard worker who is practical and gives him the capacity to work alone when necessary. He likely has a few close long-term friends as he would prefer to avoid superficial friendships. He has the ruler of his second house in his eleventh house of great gains and it is exalted. This is a powerful placement for money. He can have plenty of opportunities and good breaks throughout his life. Bezos is not someone who likes to be told what to do. He can have considerable material wealth and ownership of property. He has a knack for timing and seems to be at the right place at the right time. He needs to be cautious that he doesn’t become self-absorbed or greedy.

In his twelfth house, Aquarius, is Venus. Venus is the only planet that does well placed in the twelfth house. He can have a good sense of self and happiness. He may seek solitude in order to rejuvenate. He can find he has disappointments in love. He may enjoy reading mysteries or fantasy books. Travels to foreign countries are an essential for him as it relates to sales. He may have an interest in other cultures. He is ambitious and motivated to accomplish things and develop his career. He may at times be argumentative. He may choose partners who are different from him in either personality or outlook.

Bezos has multiple yogas, or union of planets, that indicate added information for who he is. He has a Raja yoga. This yoga combines action and purpose giving him the ability to manifest great things. He has a dhana yoga, which is considered the money yoga and it can bring material wealth. He has a Hamsa yoga which is when Jupiter is in its own sign and indicates that he can be a teacher and spiritual but also at times egotistical. He also has a Budhaditya yoga which occurs in his tenth house of career and gives him great skills in career and rising to the top. All of his yogas are made stronger by the fact that he has a Kala Sarpa yoga, as mentioned earlier.

Let’s look at some of the transits that triggered events in his life.

Bezos founded Amazon on July 5, 1994. What is fascinating about this day is that he switched into a new Maha Dasha this exact day. On the day of its founding, he went into his Moon Maha Dasha and Moon sub-dasha. The Moon being in his tenth house of career can show that he entered a period when he was solely focused on his career and that he could become very well known or famous for his work. Let’s be honest…who hasn’t heard of Amazon and Jeff Bezos? Jupiter and Rahu were transiting his eighth house of money from other people. This can indicate that he received money from others to help start the company. Transiting Ketu was in his second house of money he earns showing that when he started this, he took a hit to his personal income by quitting his “day” job.

On January 9, 2019 Bezos and his wife MacKenzie announced their intent to divorce. At this time transiting Saturn was in Sagittarius conjunct his natal Ketu and natal Mercury, ruler of his seventh house of partnerships. Transiting Saturn as ruler of his eleventh house conjunct natal Ketu can show a loss of great gains during this transit. Transiting Saturn was also sending its energy to his seventh house of partnerships and Saturn can represent death of the relationship. It is also important to note that at this time he was in Sadi Sati. This is the period when Saturn transits the house before, of and after the Moon. This can be a time that is hard on relationships. Transiting Ketu, which can represent loss, was in Capricorn sending its energy to his seventh house of marriage. At this time, he was in his Rahu dasha and Mercury sub-dasha. This would be a period focused on relationships and could trigger issues given all the transits since his natal Rahu and Mercury are in opposition to each other.

Jeff Bezos has an incredible chart. It will be interesting to see what he continues to do as he steps down and moves to his next phase to focus on his other passions.
