Betty White – The legend

Betty White is a legend and icon in the tv and film industry. She was born on January 17, 1922 at 6:38 pm in Oak Park Illinois. Betty got her start in radio and then transitioned to television and movies. She won eight Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Grammy. Betty died on December 31, 2021 just shy of her 100th birthday.

As an astrologer when I saw the news of her passing my first thought was “I wonder what transit triggered this in her chart”. So here I am on New Year’s Eve writing an article on an inspiring women who has made so many laugh.

The most significant transit I saw in her chart was that at the time of her death transiting Saturn was at 17 degrees 44 minutes of Capricorn. Betty has her natal Mercury at 17 degrees 45 minutes of Capricorn. This was, in my opinion, the key trigger. Capricorn is Betty’s seventh house which is a maraka house, or killer house. Saturn is the ruler of her seventh house giving transiting Saturn strength and Saturn can indicate death. Mercury is the ruler of her third house. The third house can indicate our life force. Mercury is also ruler of her twelfth house of loss. Her natal Mercury is made stronger by the fact that Mercury and Saturn are in a parivartana yoga in her chart which means that they are in each other’s sign of rulership and can act as if they are in their own sign. She was in her Venus Maha Dasha and Sun sub-dasha at this time. The Sun is also in her seventh house with Mercury, being triggered by Saturn as well. Transiting Ketu, loss, was sending its energy to her first house of who she is. It could indicate her death. Transiting Rahu was sending its energy to her seventh house natal Mercury and Sun and transiting Saturn, which expanded the energy these planets hold. Transiting Saturn by being in her seventh house is opposite her first house which can also be a potential indicator of her death.

Now let’s take a look at what her chart promised for her life.

Her ascendant is Cancer which sets up her chart. In her first house of Cancer is Neptune. While I don’t normally look at the outer planets in a natal chart for her it is interesting because Neptune is an indicator of photography, TV and films and the first house is who she is. The Moon rules her first house and goes to her third house which can indicate that she is someone who can express herself through writing. She has a strong courage that empowered her for success. It can indicate her being humorous with a true gift with communication.

In her third house, Virgo, Betty has a stellium of planets. She has the Moon, Saturn, Rahu and Jupiter. Moon in the third house indicates that she was someone who was constantly going places and traveling was a major part of life. She had the ability to adapt to new trends. It can indicate excellent communication skills and being a good listener. She could have had the need to move through music or could have enjoyed dancing. It can indicate a love of change and new adventures. She could have a quick mind and not think about defeat as an option. She could be a great conversationalist. Moon in Virgo can indicate being resistant to aging. Saturn in the third indicates that Betty could be determined and considerate. It can indicate good concentration or focus. It can indicate someone who is service oriented and focused. It can indicate things getting better as she got older and had more experience. Saturn as ruler of her seventh and eighth houses and being in the third can indicate that her marriages could have ups and downs. It can indicate having a partner who is involved in artistic expression such as writing, acting or music. It can indicate an impeccable communication ability with supersensory abilities in art, music or acting. She could be unconventional in her approach.
