Ben Affleck was born on August 15, 1972 at 2:53am in Berkeley, California. He has starred in films such as Pearl Harbor, Good Will Hunting, Batman and Argo. He has won an Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA. His mother was a Harvard educated elementary school teacher. He has a brother, Casey, who is also in the industry. His father was an alcoholic who Affleck has said was very hard to live with. Ben began acting at the young age of seven.
Let’s take a look and see what we see in his chart.
Ben’s ascendant is in Gemini, making the ruler of his chart Mercury. This gives him a good intellect, makes him good with languages and can make him a very powerful, persuasive speaker. He has a stronger relationship with his mother as the ruler of his first house also rules his fourth house of the mother. In his first house he has Venus which can make him very charming and gives him a skill in relating to others. Venus gives him an artistic desire. What makes Venus even more interesting in his chart is that it rules the twelfth house of films and movies. This placement also makes him charitable which we see as he is the co-founder of Eastern Congo Initiative.
In his second house, Cancer, he has Mercury, Sun and Ketu (one of the two nodes of the moon). The second house is our early childhood, our money, our voice and the food or substances we put in our mouth. Mercury in the second house can make him good with languages (he speaks Spanish), he can do well in business, writing and communication. Ben owns a production company with his good friend Matt Damon. The Sun in the second house can give him strong speech and abilities with languages. But the Sun can also cause him to get angry quickly and he can spend his money quickly getting into debt. Ketu in here can make him more inclined to spirituality over religion but it can also give a broken family. Because Ketu is conjunct the Sun this can make the relationship with his father more difficult and also show a loss of the father. His dad is an alcoholic who was homeless after the divorce and then entered a rehabilitation facility when Ben was 16. The ruler of the second house is the Moon and Bens’ Moon is in his fifth house. With this he can make money through entertainment and has a high intelligence but he could potentially have problems with taxes or the IRS.
In his third house, Leo, he has Mars. This can make him clever, determined, an advocate or activist and give him an active mind. He has a competitive side and a desire to win at all costs. He can have problems with his brother and they may butt heads at times. He has the ability to succeed through his own efforts, perseverance and determination. With the ruler of his eleventh house in his third he can have good cash flow from communication, writing, acting and other things such as sales and marketing. He has the gift of persuasion and is very friendly.
In his fifth house, Libra, Ben has the Moon. This indicates that children are an important part of his life and his first born was likely a girl, which it was. Followed by another daughter and a son. He can be very intuitive as well as intelligent and could have a knack for business. Ben can be diplomatic and will try not to hurt people’s feelings. But he also has a side that can be reckless and indecisive. He may at times feel too much pressure from the media as he can be overly sensitive to criticism. His ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, has mentioned before that she feels their split was partially from Ben’s discomfort with the media scrutiny.
In traditional Vedic astrology the outer planets are not normally used but in this case, I do want to mention Neptune’s placement in Ben’s chart. Neptune is in his sixth house, Scorpio, of work, health and service. Neptune is an indicator of films and movies and in his house of work can show his connection to Hollywood. It is also a planet of illusions, drugs and alcohol. In his house of health, it can show the alcohol addiction that he has been very open about fighting and working to overcome.
Jupiter is in his seventh house of Sagittarius. This is a strong placement for Jupiter as this is one of the signs that it rules. It’s also in an angular house meaning that it creates what is called a Hamsa yoga. This means that Jupiter will manifest the best of it’s qualities. This placement can empower Ben to be influential with the capacity to inspire and lead others. He can be in favor of humanitarian causes. He is someone that will look to fully meet the commitments he makes. With the ruler of the seventh being in its own house this can indicate that he would get great benefit from marriage and business partnerships. There is the possibility with all this energy however that he could deal with divorce, which he has. He and Jennifer Garner divorced in October 2018. The ruler of the tenth is in the seventh making it likely that he will always meet his partners through work. If we look at his history that is indeed how he has met his partners. Including his current rumored girlfriend.
In his eighth house, Capricorn, he has Rahu (the other node of the Moon). This placement gives Ben a good work ethic. He will put in the time and is not afraid of hard work. He is probably goal oriented and can make good money through his career. There may be times where he is more drawn to self-isolating to regain some of his sense of balance. This can also show us the alcoholism as Rahu is an indicator of disease, drugs and alcohol in the eighth house of change, surrender, disgrace, humiliation and power struggles. This can be the struggle of not letting alcohol control him and the disgrace and humiliation that can come from behavior that occurs while drinking. But at the same time he has the ability to transform if he digs deep and gets to the root cause uncovering the truth to grow and heal. This is further indicated as the ruler of the eighth house is in the twelfth, another hard house. This can indicate he will spend time in hospitals or in confinement. He has spent time in rehab facilities working to overcome his addiction.
The last house is his twelfth house, Taurus, where he has Saturn. He will visit many foreign locations in his life but may also face personal attacks. He may not get the best sleep or never fully feel rested upon waking. He may tend to feel more comfortable around those that are older than him. While this is a hard house it does also rule films and movies. This is how he has made money and been very successful. As mentioned earlier the ruler of this house, Venus, goes to his first house.
Let’s take a look at when he won an Academy Award and the transits that triggered that.
On February 24, 2013 Argo won the Academy Award for Best Picture. He was the director, a producer and an actor in this film. At this time transiting Jupiter was in his twelfth house of films and movies with his natal Saturn. This would bring expanse to his films. Rahu, another one we look at, was transiting his fifth house and natal Moon and was sending it’s energy to his eleventh house of great gains and gains from his profession. This was a huge honor. During this he was in his Saturn Dasha which was another aspect that was bring triggered by transiting Jupiter. His sub-dahsa at the time of the win was Mars. Mars is in the lunar mansion of Magha which creates “kings” he was king of the Academy Awards as Best Picture is the highest honor.
In May of 2019 Ben entered his Mercury Maha Dasha which will activate not only his second house of money but also his first house and fourth house. With the current years transits activating his seventh and eighth houses I would say this could be an interesting year for Ben. Keep an eye on him to see what unfolds.
