Every one has heard of and knows their Sun sign. I’m a Libra or I’m a Capricorn…(unless of course you have been living under a rock). It’s that quick blurb in the morning paper or in the Sunday paper, or in today’s world it’s online. It tells how your week or day will go – giving you either a good outlook or a poor outlook. It’s easy to read and grasp.
Yet, I have come across many people who say their Sun sign doesn’t describe them. Or that the blurb they read doesn’t resonate with them. This isn’t a shock. Your Sun sign is such a small part of who you are. There is so much more to it. There so many other factors and planets that come into play in your being the unique individual you are.
However, because the Sun sign is simple to understand people use it to describe others. “Oh well of course they did that they are a Leo or Scorpio or Pisces, etc.” or my favorite “I can never date another Capricorn, it was just the worst relationship”.
Hearing these types of generalizations makes me cringe – like plug my ears and hum happy songs.
Why you may ask? These people, by generalizing, are taking out potential people who may be their best friend or soul mate. They are placing each unique individual in a box that isn’t even a fair box. As mentioned there are all the other planets to take in to consideration. We have to look at where Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn fall and let’s not forget the two nodes of the Moon, Rahu and Ketu. Each of these go in to build who we are and what we are about. Having a lot of planets in one sign can make you more like that sign.
That person that you think did “X” because they were a Gemini may have actually done it because Mars is prominent in their chart or Rahu and the Moon are together. That Capricorn you dated may have been a mismatch for you, not because their Sun was in Capricorn but it could have been because Saturn or Mars had a negative influence between your two charts when compared and that was the cause of frustration. The possibilities are endless! But the next Gemini or Capricorn, unless they were born on the same day at the same exact time in the same city as the last person, likely has a very different chart. If you’re thinking the odds are small of someone having the exact same date, time and city of birth happening you are 100% correct. While I know it is a slim possibility, it is a rare one.
I would suggest the Sun sign is more of hinderance in giving you insights leading you on your path than it is a benefit. If you are truly looking for a quick approach you would be better off looking at the sign of your Ascendant or the sign your Moon is in. These are far more powerful and more about who you are then the Sun. Yes, the Sun is important and it shows important things in your chart but it is not the end all. For example, if you have the Sun conjunct Ketu (one of the nodes of the Moon) in Leo, in your first house of who you are, you likely took longer to come out of your shell and become who you are. Now I can hear you saying, “But Elizabeth, Leo Suns are always very out there wanting to be the center of attention!” Wrong! This is my point. The Sun energy will express itself through so many other aspects of your chart making you the unique individual you are.
Next time you go read the paper I would encourage you to look at your Moon or Ascendant instead of your Sun and see what you think. When you do, which resonates most with you?
