The Seasons of Life

As we shifted in to spring it made me think about the fact that just like Earth goes through four seasons so do every one of us as individuals. We have those times that, like Winter, are harsh and filled with challenges. Facing cold spells. Or those times like Spring where we “have new growth” we have made it through the harsh “winter” and are now able to learn and grow. It’s the time for a new chapter to begin.

So, let’s go ahead and take a more in-depth look at the different Seasons we move in and out of over of life.

Winter: These are those hard times. Those times where you don’t think the challenges could get any harder. Those times where you are grasping at every moment of daylight because it’s just too much darkness all around. “Winter” is a perfect time just to slow down and retreat and take the time to truly listen to what the universe and your soul are trying to communicate to you. These are the times where it is best to start to analyze and dig deep into who you are really. Where do you want to go? Why are you facing these issues? What can you learn from them? If you’re not o.k. being by yourself it’s a great time to learn the importance of being alone and enjoying your own company. If you aren’t o.k. with yourself, it will be tough ever to be o.k. with others.

Spring: After a long dark, cold winter it’s what we all wait for. The light begins to stick around longer. Spring is all about new growth. Putting into practice what you have learned during the long winter. You’ve made it through the hard challenges and are starting to regrow. What can you do to get a fresh start? What are your biggest growth points? Can you take a class that interests you? Or helps you gain new skills? How can you make the most of this new beginning to lead you down your life path?

Summer: That time even when we are kids that we all look forward to! It’s the time when we have the most light. We tend to feel the most carefree. Those projects that bloomed and grew in Spring are now fully grown. They are mature. We feel on top of the world. While we may face minor challenges, they don’t take us out like the challenges in Winter. How can you make the most of the “Summer”? What are you doing to enjoy the fruits of your labor? Are you taking the time to relax but also expand your mind further?

Fall: We start to sense that “Winter” is upon us but we try to avoid the signs as long as possible. We are still coming off the good vibes of the “Summer.” Wearing shorts and t-shirts until the last possible minute. Trying to catch the last rays of the Summer sun. We start to see the cold snaps coming in the form of slightly bigger problems, or we just get the gut sense that something is shifting but can’t define it. The brightest colors of the leaves and those successful projects begin to dull. How can you go about preparing? What steps can you take to prepare yourself for future changes? How do you use what the wind teaches to help bend and go with the flow to make the “Winter” less harsh? Just because Winter is coming doesn’t mean it has to be as bad as an Alaska Winter, it could be more like an Arizona winter.

In life we all go through four seasons we may not always start in Spring or any particular season. We will go in and out of all four seasons multiple times throughout our lifetime. But it’s how we face it and recognizing you can control your attitude towards it. Sometimes the best thing to do is just go with the flow and show up and take positive action every day.
