Michael Bloomberg: Politician, Businessman, Author

Michael Bloomberg born on February 14, 1942 at 3:40pm in Brighton, Massachusetts, is a businessman who started his own company in October of 1981 that provides global financial services, software and mass media. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. He was the Mayor of New York City from January 1, 2002 to December 31, 2013. As of October 2019, he was the 8th richest person in the United States and the 14th richest in the world.

Let’s take a look and see what we see in his chart.

Bloomberg’s ascendant is in Cancer which makes the Moon the ruler of his chart. The Moon is the indicator of the masses which gives him the power to influence the masses. This is made even stronger by the fact that his Moon goes to his seventh house making him skilled in relating to others. He has the ability to speak with power and is well educated. He is extremely motivated and has the ability to rise to the top of his field. He can also be self-centered and brash. He has a drive for justice and truth which likely led him into politics.

Rahu is in his second house, Leo, of money and speech. He has the ability to gain great amounts of money and it can come from foreign sources. This placement can also make him devious or cause him to speak ill of others. The ruler of his second house goes to his eighth house which indicates his income comes from other people’s money such as investors or investments.

He has three planets, Moon, Mercury and Venus, in his seventh house, Capricorn, of relationships and business partnerships. Moon in the seventh allows him to benefit from partnerships and general business but he can also be fickle and have many relationships. He can gain recognition and fame in his chosen field of work. With Mercury in the seventh he can be good at getting what he wants out of business and relationships, he follows a good business plan and he can be good with math, writing and communication. Mercury also rules the twelfth which could indicate divorce. He was divorced from his first wife in 1993. Venus in this house makes him capable of relating to anybody about anything, he’s persuasive and has good business skills. With the ruler of his third, Mercury, in his seventh he can have success in businesses related to sales, marketing and other informative and persuasive skills. He can do very well from doing business in partnerships. He likely doesn’t believe in the word “can’t”. One thing to note is that individuals who have a lot of planets in the seventh house are very good at getting others to do their work for them, whether it be for good or bad.

In his eighth house, Aquarius, he has the Sun and Ketu. He may enjoy uncovering hidden things and is clever at getting money or support from other people. His humility may be tested through a disgrace and power and self-confidence may be sought through unethical means.

In his tenth house, Aries, of career Bloomberg has Mars and Saturn. Mars is comfortable in this sign as it is its Moolatrikona while Saturn is debilitated or in its weakest state in Aries. Mars in the tenth makes him smart, an active leader, someone who takes quick action to get results, is self-sufficient and unafraid to innovate with a tireless pursuit in achieving his goals. Mars makes him powerful, a pioneer and someone who takes a decided point of view. Saturn can bring a structure and discipline with steady growth in his career and finances. Saturn can mean he will face delays yet he wants to accomplish things quickly and can be impatient. Mars rules the fifth in the tenth which can mean he will have a career involving investments, speculation, government (can be politics) or corporate work. Mars also rules the tenth house and being in the tenth house can indicate he’s a top executive, highly respected, that he governs large groups of people and he’s politically savvy.

The final planet Jupiter is in Taurus in his eleventh house of great gains and friends. This placement brings good cash flow and gives him the capacity to develop opportunities. He’s friendly and benefits from influential people. Bloomberg is a dreamer, inspiring and civic-minded. Jupiter rules his sixth house being in his eleventh he has the ability to defeat opponents and come out ahead. Jupiter also rules the ninth house in the house of great gains which can make him a successful investor. Connections can come through friends and groups or organizations.

I want to take a look at some of the transits over time to see what has triggered events in his life including starting his company and winning the mayoral election in NYC.

On October 1, 1981 Michael started his company Bloomberg L.P. with the help of three other people and a 30% ownership investment by Merrill Lynch. At this time, he was in the Dasha of Jupiter sub-dasha Rahu. This would bring out the power of his Natal Jupiter in his 11th house of great gains and the power of Rahu in his second house of money. The company in 2019 has revenue of about $10 billion which shows how Jupiter and Rahu have played in. Rahu is also an indicator of computers and Bloomberg L.P. started out in custom build computerized systems that would provide real time market data, financial calculations and other financial analytics to Wall Street firms. At the time of founding, transiting Jupiter was in Virgo sending its energy to his 7th house of partnerships, his 9th house and his 11th house of great gains. Transiting Jupiter was sending by exact degree its energy to his natal Moon which rules his chart and granted opportunities. Transiting Saturn was also in Virgo his third house which became a point of manifestation. And, the third house is the house of initiative, motivation, all forms of communication (including computers) and sales. Transiting Mars, which is his strongest planet and rules his tenth house of career, was in his first house of Cancer exactly opposite the ruler of his first house. Transiting Rahu was also in his first house of Cancer and is an indicator of machines, computers and sudden change. He started his company after being laid off from Salomon Brothers in 1981.

On November 6, 2001 he was elected the Mayor of New York City a position he would serve in until December 31, 2013 after three terms. This was the first time someone had served three terms as in October of 2008 before the 2009 elections he looked to extend the city’s term limits law in order to run for Mayor a third time. At the time of his first win he was in his Mercury Dasha and Mercury Sub-Dasha. This was putting all the energy into his seventh house of partnerships. Also at this time transiting Saturn was sitting within a degree of his natal Jupiter in Taurus his eleventh house of great gains and attainment of desires. Saturn and Jupiter created a point of manifestation. Combined with the fact that Jupiter rules his ninth house bringing with it to the eleventh the ability to gain through politics. Transiting Mars was another trigger at this time as it was transiting his seventh house of Capricorn, where it is exalted so in its strongest state, and was exactly conjunct at 13 degrees to his natal Venus, ruler of his eleventh house of great gains. Transiting Mars was sending its energy to his tenth house of career and his natal Mars empowering these two even more. Transiting Moon was another trigger as it was within 2 degrees of his ascendant in Cancer its own sign making him very popular with the public and masses.

Michael Bloomberg is currently running for President of the United States and it will be interesting to watch how the transits impact his run for President. He has some good upcoming transits over the next nine months. When looking at other Democratic hopefuls he has a stronger chart with transits that will be more beneficial for him against them. Let’s see how this all plays out over the next couple months.
